Despite a busy weekend of domestic fixtures across Europe, Juventus, Inter, Milan, Atalanta and Bologna will have to gear up again for another entertaining round of Champions League fixtures over the next few days.

Here is how Juventus, Inter, Milan, Atalanta and Bologna’s upcoming opponents got on in their respective leagues this weekend.

Champions League: How Serie A opponents got on this weekend

Inter vs Red Star

Red Star picked up a 2-1 victory over Zeleznicar Pancevo on Friday evening thanks to goals from Vanja Drkusic and Luka Ilic.

They are unbeaten at the top of the Serbian SuperLiga, with eight wins and one draw from nine matches so far this season, for a tally of 25 points from a possible 27.

Inter rose to a 3-2 victory away against Udinese, thanks to Davide Frattesi’s first minute opener and Lautaro Martinez’s first two goals of the season.

Bayer Leverkusen vs Milan

Bayer Leverkusen earned a hard-fought point in a 1-1 draw away against the Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich on Saturday. Robert Andrich opened the scoring after 31 minutes, but that was cancelled out by Aleksandar Pavlovic eight minutes later.

Milan picked up their third Serie A win in a row with an entertaining 3-0 victory against Lecce on Friday night, with three goals in the space of five minutes from Alvaro Morata, Theo Hernandez and Christian Pulisic.

Shakhtar Donetsk vs Atalanta

Shakhtar were held to a 1-1 draw by Veres Rivne in the Ukrainian Premier League on Friday evening. Heorhiy Sudakov’s first-half penalty was matched by Dmytro Klytos equaliser nine minutes before time.

On Saturday, Atalanta were held to a  1-1 by Bologna, who coincidentally also drew with Shakhtar in the Champions League during the first round of fixtures earlier in September.

RB Leipzig vs Juventus

Marco Rose’s Leipzig side picked up an encouraging 4-0 win at home to Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with goals coming from Benjamin Sesko (x2), Lois Openda and Xavi Simons.

The Germans are unbeaten domestically so far this campaign, and have a similar record to Juventus in Serie A, albeit having played one game less. Three wins and two draws from five puts them into second place on 11 points, only behind Bayern Munich.

Juventus, meanwhile, picked up their third 3-0 win of the Serie A season away against a supporter-less Genoa on Saturday evening, thanks to a Dusan Vlahovic brace and a third from Francisco Conceicao.

Liverpool vs Bologna

Liverpool earned their fifth win out of six Premier League matches so far this season with a 2-1 victory away against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. Ibrahima Konate and a Mohamed Salah penalty helped Arne Slot’s side on their way.

As mentioned above, Bologna drew 1-1 with Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta. Santiago Castro opened the scoring immediately after the start of the second half, but that was cancelled out by Lazar Samardzic’s strike on the 90th minute.
