Atlético Madrid are continuing to suffer as a result of the actions of their ultras ‘Frente Atlético’. Following trouble at the Madrid derby a couple of weeks ago, there was more trouble as they travelled to Lisbon to face Benfica.

As per Cadena SER, the club has received a fine of €30,000 following reports of Nazi salutes amongst its fans in the away end during the Champions League tie.

This punishment also continues with the fact that if these actions are to be repeated, the club will be banned from selling away tickets to a future European tie.

This punishment is also similar in nature to the one received by Barcelona recently with regard to a banner displayed in the away end of their match against AS Monaco.

UEFA will be keeping a keen eye on the away end of Atlético Madrid’s upcoming European away fixtures, namely those against PSG, Sparta Prague and RB Salzburg.

It will also be interesting to see what action the club takes to deal with these incidents on a club level and at home matches.
