Atalanta were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw at home to Celtic in their third Champions League match of the season on Thursday evening. Here are the player ratings from the trying stalemate in Bergamo.
Carnesecchi 6.5 – Just the two shots on target to deal with in the end, but the Atalanta ‘keeper was alert and did the job he was tasked with.
Djimsiti 6.5 – Almost played the De Roon role of stepping out of the back-line to provide another option in midfield. No major issues on the defensive side of things.
Hien 6.5 – Didn’t really put a foot wrong all game – a fairly solid performance in a game that was quite end-to-end at times.
Kolasinac 6 – A surprise return to the starting line-up given his absence in Serie A over the weekend, but the former Arsenal man put in a routine performance, relatively sound.
Bellanova 5 – One or two decent first-half crosses, but wasn’t able to break past the Celtic back-line on the run and was eventually taken off after 57 minutes.
De Roon 6 – Did his usual job at the base of the midfield in possession. Not an enormously exciting performance, but far from disastrous.
Ederson 6.5 – One of Atalanta’s better players on the night, there was plenty of energy as usual, some decent balls forward and a first-half recovery challenge on Kühn that proved to be vital. Less impactful in the second half.
Zappacosta 6 – Covered a lot of ground on the night, but was a touch wasteful with some of his crossing and decision making.
Pasalic 5 – Missed two of Atalanta’s best chances of the night, either of which he might have tucked away on a different night.
Retegui 5.5 – Something about the Champions League hasn’t quite clicked for the Italy international. Leading the way in Serie A, but still without a goal in Europe. Subbed off with Bellanova less than an hour in.
Lookman 6 – Summed Atalanta’s performance up: No shortage of energy and tried to make things happen, but wasn’t quite able to make it work. Celtic always seemed to swarm him in the end.
Schmeichel 6.5; Johnston 6, Trusty 7, Scales 7, Valle 6; Engels 6, McGregor 6, Hatate 6.5; Kühn 6.5, Idah 5, Hatate 6.5.
