The Celtic Star: How special a moment was that for you to lift the trophy alongside Callum, someone you have spent the Celtic journey with for more than a decade now?

James Forrest: “Unbelievable. I think both of us coming through the academy and obviously the career Cal is having, he’s got so many more years to go as well. It was a nice touch from him when he said I should hold the trophy with him at the end, it was good. I think it’s great for the club, two boys from the academy coming through and obviously Cal captaining the club as well, so I think all round it is great for everyone associated with the club and it was a really good moment.”

The Celtic Star: I know you have touched on it briefly, but the manager constantly refers to you and Callum as examples of success stories coming from the club’s academy, do you see yourself as a mentor for the younger players coming through now?

James Forrest: “I think if they look at players it’s good for them. There’s obviously a couple of young boys that have left in the past and they’ve went to different teams. Everyone is different but I think players here know Celtic is a massive club, always wanting Europe, always wanting trophies and playing with boys in the squad who are mostly international players. So, you can definitely better yourself here and the moments and pressures you have here is what you want as a footballer. I think young boys coming up and training with the first team is great experience for them and they can build on that. Hopefully there are more players to come through and do what me, Cal, KT and Ralston and loads of boys like that and they can come through and do that as well, and that is everyone at the club wants.”

The Celtic Star:  Looking ahead to Saturday, it is potentially and remarkably trophy number 27 for yourself, possibly the club’s sixth Treble in nine seasons, how are the boys feeling ahead of the game?

James Forrest:“The boys are feeling good. For everyone it was a great day on Saturday, Trophy Day, the fans atmosphere at the end was really good and the boys got to spend it with their families as well. But, we had Sunday Monday off and now it was back in on Tuesday and now we are preparing for the cup final. Loads of boys have done it so they know that is kind of gone now and we want to finish on a high and we have been preparing well, so we are looking forward to Saturday.”
