According to Foot Mercato journalist Sébastian Denis, Bundesliga club Union Berlin have reached an agreement with Monaco to sign Kevin Volland. The German striker is entering the last year of his contract at the Stade Louis II, so Les Monégasques are looking to cash in and avoid losing him on a free transfer.

The fee agreed by the Bundesliga outfit is worth a reported €5.5m in total – €4m will be paid up front, with a further €1.5m to be paid in add-ons. Florian Plettenberg has reported that the 30-year-old is interested in a return to his homeland and that the club from the German capital have booked a medical ahead of his pending move.

Wolfsburg had also been reportedly interested in the Monaco striker, but Union Berlin now appear to have won the race for his services. Volland signed for Monaco from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of €11m in 2020. The German international has made 115 appearances for the Principality club to date, scoring 39 goals and assisting a further 24.
