Bild reports today that Saudi Arabian clubs Al-Shabab and Al-Ahli are interested in signing Union Berlin midfielder Aïssa Laïdouni. Although the Tunisian international was only signed in January, Union would be open to accepting an offer for Laïdouni should they receive an interesting bid.

Laïdouni (26) joined Union from Ferencvaros for €2.6m and after performing well in the Rückrunde, is now valued at €7m by Transfermarkt. Per the report, it’s likely that a Saudi Arabian club would pay in excess of that, which would see a substantial return for Union.

Although it would make sense from a financial point of view, Laïdouni’s departure would make little sense from a sporting view. Rani Khedira, Lucas Tousart and Andras Schafer are all absent, leaving Union short in midfield. However, Union would still be open to negotiations.

Union, who signed Robin Gosens from Inter on Tuesday night, and are currently working on a deal to sign Monaco’s Kevin Volland for €5.5m including bonuses, start their Bundesliga campaign with a home game against Mainz on Sunday.
