FC Barcelona got a crucial win over Atletico Madrid last night which secured them a berth in the final of the Copa del Rey. The Blaugranes were able to win this second leg of the semi-final tie with the barest of margins, as Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the game after the first leg had ended in a 4-4 draw.

Thus, the Catalans remain on track to win the treble this season and are increasingly looking likely to do so keeping in view the form they have shown since the start of the season.

However, last night’s win did not come without its costs, as SPORT reports how several Barcelona players faced physical problems during and after such an intense game.

The player who showed the earliest signs of a physical problem was the defender Pau Cubarsi, who seemed to be struggling at the start of the second half. Hansi Flick, not looking to take any risks whatsoever with such an important player, decided to replace him with Eric Garcia.

Such a problem was rather understandable for the youngster, as he had not played at full throttle for the last two weeks, since he suffered a problem playing with the Spanish national team.

His colleague in the centre of the defence for the most part of this season, Inigo Martinez, suffered a small injury in the hamstring, which was nothing out of the ordinary in such an intense game. He was able to play till the full-time whistle.

There was also a loss in the midfield, as Gavi, even though he did not step on the pitch, felt some discomfort in his knee while he was warming up.

Lastly, Raphinha also finished the match with some problems. He was the recipient of some particularly harsh blows from Cesar Azpilicueta and Rodrigo de Paul, which started hurting after the end of the match.

With a crucial UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Borussia Dortmund coming in a week, it remains to be seen whether Flick will start these important players in the upcoming La Liga game against Real Betis.
