According to Relevo, Valencia want to shield their forward line made up of Diego López and Hugo Duro, with the deals of both players expiring in 2026.
Diego has already extended his contract until 2027 and will therefore remain at the club for at least another three years. This extension was proposed a few weeks ago, however today his agent went to the offices of the Mestalla club to make it official.
Even though an agreement has been reached, the club are considering the option of giving him an increased salary due to his performances this season. Next on the list of renewals is Duro, who is on one of the lowest salaries at the club and this is because of him signing from Getafe to act almost as a squad player.
The club’s approaches have been well received by the Getafense, who would ideally like to continue at the club. However, the player hopes that the club take into consideration his performances he has given during his three years at the club, as although he didn’t perform well in 2023, he scored 10 goals in 2022 and this season he has already surpassed this tally.
In 2020, the La Liga club had to sell Ferran Torres for less than his market value because he only had one year left on his deal. Similarly, in 2022 the same thing happened with Carlos Soler and therefore the club have learnt from this and want to protect the value of their forward line.
