Vancouver Whitecaps have a new man on the touchline at BC Place after the club confirmed the appointment of Jesper Sørensen and their new head coach.
Per the club's official announcement on socials, the 50-year-old former Danish U21 international and seasoned professional joins Blue-and-White after a highly successful spell with Brøndby.
During his time in Copenhagen, Sørensen led Drengene Fra Vestegnen to a second-place finish in 2023-24 Danish Superliga season and has over 200 matches under his belt as a manager.
Whitecaps FC sporting director Axel Schuster is keen to add Sørensen into the mix, stating “Jesper is known for his competitiveness, adaptability, and leadership, qualities that have proven to bring the best out of both his players and staff."
“Throughout his career, he has delivered immediate success with his teams, whether that was securing promotion or competing for titles. His ability to improve individual players while also implementing a flexible, high-performing tactical system will be key to our continued growth. Jesper is the right leader to take us to the next level.”
Sørensen takes charge of a Whitecaps side that reached Round One of the MLS Cup Playoffs last season after trouncing Portland Timbers in a 5-0 Wild Card win.
