Ruud van Nistelrooy is a popular figure in the Manchester United dressing room. The players have unsurprisingly reacted well to him becoming interim manager after Erik ten Hag was sacked a week ago.

The Dutchman describes his job as a dream, but it remains to be seen if he will be kept on as a coach when Ruben Amorim arrives on November 11.

Van Nistelrooy has a contract for another year and he has made no secret that he intends to continue working for United, a club he holds dearly in his heart.

The decision will come down to INEOS or Amorim, who is taking his coaching staff with him from Sporting Lisbon.

Van Nistelrooy involved in Manchester United training

The opportunity to train with Van Nistelrooy will still be a buzz for these United players.

One of the greatest goalscorers to play for the club and someone who is respected throughout world football.

Van Nistelrooy was spotted getting involved in rondos practice at training this morning and he didn’t look out of place. Dare I saw he looked more comfortable than a few of the current players, which shows he’ll never lose his class.

The team is preparing to take on PAOK in the Europa League after drawing their first three games in the competition. That poor form inevitably led to Ten Hag getting sacked but Van Nistelrooy will be aiming to get United’s European campaign on track by securing three points.

As hosts United will be favourites – but the same was said before our disappointing draw against FC Twente. I thought that was the night where things really turned sour for Ten Hag as he dropped points against a team he knows so well.
