Darwin Nunez’s outstanding curling shot and finish against Bournemouth has been voted as Liverpool FC’s Goal of the Month for September.

The Uruguayan striker has scored only one goal so far this season, which came against the Cherries in the Reds’ 3-0 win at Anfield.

In typical Darwin fashion though, that goal was one to remember. The forward collected Trent Alexander-Arnold’s pass, ran through the right-hand side of the Bournemouth defence, cut inside and let fly.

Kepa Arrizabalaga had no chance as even a fully-stretched dive wasn’t enough to get a hand on the sizzling effort. It was the third goal of the match and a much-needed one for the 25-year-old, who looked elated and relieved that his strike went in.

Arne Slot was also thrilled with the goal, as he praised his player in the post-match press conference, claiming that ‘he’s a better football player than I was!’.

Nunez will be back in action for Uruguay during this international break as his ban was lifted – we hope to see him banging in another goal or two and coming back to Liverpool with even more confidence.

Luis Diaz’s opener in the same game finished second in the vote, with Dominik Szoboszlai’s finish after a world-class team move away to AC Milan coming in third.

The former Benfica striker coming in first place is no surprise, as in our opinion it was by far the best finish we saw from the Reds in September.
