Villarreal close to completing €16m centre-back signing | OneFootball

Villarreal have spent big this week, securing the signings of Luiz Junior and Thierro Barry from Famalicao and FC Basel respectively. They’re not done yet, and they’re about to close a deal for a new central defender.

A new centre-back has been on Marcelino Garcia Toral’s agenda for the entire summer. It’s an area that they massively struggled in last season, and although Willy Kambwala was signed from Manchester United, a more first-choice option has also been desired.

They are about to get that option tied up, as Relevo have reported that a deal is close to being completed for Logan Costa. Villarreal and Toulouse are currently in advanced negotiations, with a fee reported, by Nico Schira, to be €16m.

Costa would be an excellent signing for Villarreal, and in he and Kambwala, the Yellow Submarine have a very promising long-term partnership in the centre of defence. For now, it remains to be seen whether a deal can be concluded.
