Earlier today, Vinicius Jr. won the Globe Soccer Awards’ Best Men’s Player of the Year as well as the Best Forward of the Year honours.
During the gala which took place in Dubai, the Brazilian witnessed Real Madrid legend Cristiano Ronaldo give him a public shout-out, as the Portuguese icon claimed that the 24-year-old deserved to win the Ballon d’Or this year.
Not stopping at that, Ronaldo even went on to call the Ballon d’Or awards unfair due to Vinicius being snubbed this year.
“Vinicius should have won the Ballon d’Or, in my opinion it was clear. It was unfair. This is why I love Globe Soccer Awards, they are honest,” said Ronaldo.
Now, responding to the comments made by Cristiano, Vinicius beamed with pride and said that if Real Madrid’s all-time leading goalscorer thinks that he is the best player, then he is.
“If Cristiano said I’m the best, then I am,” said the Real Madrid megastar, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
While the Ballon d’Or may have eluded Vinicius, the 24-year-old ends 2024 on a successful note, having bagged top honours at FIFA The Best Awards and now the Globe Soccer Awards.
The Brazilian also won his second title of the season with Real Madrid earlier this year, adding the FIFA Intercontinental Cup to the UEFA Super Cup triumph from early in the season.
