Virgil van Dijk's agents spotted with Liverpool director as contract negotiations continue | OneFootball

The agents of Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk were spotted in the stands for the Reds' Carabao Cup semi-final victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Van Dijk is in the final six months of his contract with Liverpool and has found himself linked with a whole host of European giants, and increasing speculation has sparked plenty of concern among supporters.

Barcelona are the latest side to find themselves linked with Van Dijk, who has been mentioned as a possible target for Real Madrid, and the Dutchman recently stressed there was no truth to rumours he had already agreed to extend his Liverpool contract.

There remains hope, however, that Liverpool will be able to tie Van Dijk down to fresh terms after his agents were spotted alongside Reds sporting director Richard Hughes in midweek to watch Liverpool advance to the Carabao Cup final at Tottenham's expense.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the meeting between Hughes and Van Dijk's agents but warned supporters that there is not yet an agreement over an extension.

"It is true that the agents of Virgil van Dijk were sitting next to the director of football at Liverpool, Richard Hughes, for the game against Tottenham," he said. "There is still a very good conversation, a very good relationship between Liverpool and the agents of Virgil van Dijk.

"At the moment, the decision has still not been made. But the conversations continue."
