Manchester City manager Gareth Taylor has revealed Vivianne Miedema underwent a "very minor procedure" after the club confirmed the star striker had surgery on her knee.
Following confirmation from the club on Wednesday morning that Miedema had undergone surgery on her left knee, Taylor provided an update on the City star's progress ahead of the side's Women's Super League meeting with Crystal Palace on Sunday.
"It was a really minor procedure," he stressed. "It was just a slight niggle that Viv had that we felt may have gone away. But after discussions with the surgeon, they decided to do a small procedure, and I think it's really going to help."
Despite not being able to confirm a return date for Miedema, Taylor noted that the striker is in high spirits and is eager to return to the pitch as fast as possible.
"I just spoke with her before actually, and she said she feels she's ready to run, which is maybe slightly ambitious on her front," he laughed. "But, that's just her in a nutshell. She wants to be back out with us. She's really enjoying her football with us."

Miedema made an immediate impact upon her arrival at City, scoring on her debut against her old side Arsenal at the Emirates. The Dutch star also assisted Naomi Layzell's goal against European giants Barcelona.
"She has made a huge contribution," Taylor continued. "The impact that she has had so far on the pitch has been top, particularly when we've slightly adapted her position. She's added real value to us and another dimension."
"The way I look at it is, after getting herself right with this surgery and obviously getting herself really fit and really strong, we're going to have an enhanced version. I think we will get an improved version when she comes back."
