Dusan Vlahovic explains his controversial goal celebration after bagging a brace in the Juventus win over Genoa. ‘I’ve learned that you are the best when you score and a flop when you don’t.’
The Old Lady was losing confidence following three consecutive goalless stalemates against Roma, Empoli and Napoli, with the first half against Genoa showing little sign of breaking that drought.
However, a Koni De Winter handling offence provided Vlahovic the opportunity to convert a penalty and moments later he fired in the angled drive from a Teun Koopmeiners assist too.
“The most important thing is that we won and now we hope to continue like this,” Vlahovic told DAZN following the 3-0 victory.
The Serbia international had something of a controversial goal celebration, making a hand gesture to suggest ‘blah blah’ of people talking about him.
“It’s no problem, people talk, I’ve learned that you are the best when you score and a flop when you don’t. I do my talking on the pitch,” shrugged the €80m signing.
“It happens that you get more chances in some games than others, I am well aware that people expect a lot of me and I am not running away from that. I am giving 200 per cent and want to be left with no regrets, whether it goes well or badly.
“It doesn’t matter if I score or not, the important thing is that the team wins.”
The 24-year-old took his tally up to four goals in six Serie A games, so has Vlahovic set a target of how many goals he wants to reach this season for Juventus?
“I don’t set limits for myself, I take it one game at a time and once again reiterate the important thing is that the team wins.”
Francisco Conceicao sealed the 3-0 scoreline late on when a Koopmeiners dummy let the Khephren Thuram pass through, his first goal for the club.
“The whole team has been really helpful, I am very happy with my first goal and want to continue like this,” said the Portuguese talent.
