Riccardo Calafiori was seen limping away from San Siro following Italy’s 2-1 loss against Germany in the Nations League quarter-final on Thursday evening, telling journalists: ‘I don’t know guys, I don’t know’ when asked about the severity of his injury.
Italy were defeated by a Germany side in a second-half comeback on Thursday evening. Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali opened the scoring less than 10 minutes in, before a pair of headers from Tim Kleindienst and Leon Goretzka set Germany up with a 2-1 advantage heading into the return leg in Dortmund on Sunday.
Towards the end of proceedings, Calafiori managed to slip on the San Siro turf while trying to change direction, requiring treatment to his knee before being helped back up to his feet.

The former Bologna centre-back has already had four separate injury concerns over the course of the 2024-25 season, although has never been unavailable for more than four games in a row at club level.
He had suffered a career-threatening injury to his left knee while still in the youth ranks with Roma.
