Real Madrid star Lucas Vázquez could not contain his amusement, after being drawn on city rivals Atlético’s disappointing latest result.

The La Liga title race of course took a fresh twist on Saturday evening.

This came after table-topping Atlético Madrid, in the midst of a 15-game win streak, were brought crashing back down to earth by way of a 1-0 defeat at the hands of relegation-battling Leganés.

The result means that, should they get the better of Las Palmas this afternoon, Real Madrid will leapfrog their neighbours into top spot.

During an appearance in front of the media as part of the Alcobendas festivities on Saturday evening, the subject of Atléti’s shock defeat was therefore put to the aforementioned Lucas Vázquez.

And the versatile full-back could not help but break out in a smile, making clear his delight with yesterday’s outcome at The Estadio Municipal de Butarque.
