The Pilgrims' recent form has given them a strong chance of Championship survival
Plymouth Argyle head coach Miron Muslic sent a warning to the rest of the Green Army's Championship rivals after they dismantled Millwall at Home Park on Wednesday night.
After his side sent shockwaves through the footballing world after defeating Premier League leaders Liverpool 1-0 on Sunday afternoon, the Pilgrims dominated the Lions from start to finish, going 2-0 up inside the first 10 minutes through a Joe Bryan own-goal and Ryan Hardie's second strike from the penalty spot in the space of four days.
Muslic's men started the second period in a similar vein, as Hardie notched his fourth goal in three games just three minutes after Mustapha Bundu made it 3-0.
Despite a consolation goal from the aforementioned Bryan at the right end of the pitch, Nikola Katic continued his early 'cult hero' status at Home Park as he rounded off the scoring, with three points lifting Argyle off the bottom of the second tier table for the first time since December 21st.
With newfound confidence surging throughout the Devon club as they battle against dropping into League One for the second successive season, their Austrian boss has sent a warning to the 23 other sides in the division with 15 games of the season remaining.
The 42-year-old was quick to praise the mentality of his players as they put Sunday's historic FA Cup victory against Arne Slot's men and a subsequent fifth-round draw against Manchester City behind them and gave even more commitment to the cause in their relegation fight.
"I knew it was going to be very difficult for us because everything was so emotional on Sunday," the Bosnian told the Plymouth Herald.
"It's never easy finding the right balance, putting the lads but also us as a staff again on the ground, on one side to enjoy this great achievement, a historical moment for us, but also on the other side not to forget the daily bread is the competition and we have to collect points and we have to win games.
"That's why I'm very pleased and actually very proud of the performance," Muslic added.
"That was the plan, to use this energy, to use this confidence from Liverpool from the first whistle. If we can manage to do this we knew we can create some troubling moments for Millwall, knowing that Millwall is defensively solid.
"We managed to have three consecutive wins in a row now, we managed to win this massive game. It's not about frustration. I'm very satisfied and it's another step forward.
"The players believe more and more, and if they believe they go fully, and we saw today a team from minute one until the last whistle going fully."
Despite achieving shock successes over Brentford and Liverpool, as well as Muslic's well-documented initial speech to his players, many outsiders felt that Argyle's chances of achieving survival were all-but over as they shipped five goals to Burnley in the first 45 minutes at Home Park last month.
In the three matches which have followed that particular drubbing, the Greens have showcased plenty of sides to their game, with a strong mentality seeing them salvage a point against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light, as well as a come-from-behind success over West Bromwich Albion on February 1st.
The club's biggest win of the season against Millwall now highlights the goal threat Plymouth do have at their disposal, with it being just the fourth time they have netted three goals or more in a game so far this season.
After taking seven points from nine, Argyle have to utilise this momentum in order to improve their dire away record of just four points and no victories from 15 games, as they take on Blackburn Rovers on Saturday at Ewood Park before a mammoth six-pointer against Luton Town in Bedfordshire on Tuesday.
