It’s time to reflect on Manchester United’s first defeat of the season and it comes as no surprise that Andre Onana was the one player to stand up and speak after the disappointing result.

United suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon, despite thinking they had come from behind until Alejandro Garnacho’s goal was ruled out before Joao Pedro’s stoppage-time winner.

Onana believes United were unlucky to leave with zero points, insisting the Reds were the superior team on the day. It’s worth noting that Erik ten Hag’s side also had two goals ruled out albeit correctly.

Speaking to club media, as per ManUtd.com, Onana said results like today are part of football and the team must move on: “We came here to win, unfortunately, we didn’t win.

“We had a great game, I think we were better than them, we had more chances, we had more possession, we had more control of the game.

“Unfortunately, they disallowed us a goal, but that’s part of football, that’s part of life, we have to move on.”

Next week is the time to respond when Liverpool come to Old Trafford for the first big game of the season.

Onana added: “Of course, we’re going to talk with each other, we’re going to sit and analyse the videos and what went wrong, and from there, we will move.

“Big games are coming, big clubs, so the expectation is here, it will be very high.”
