Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Dario Vidošić says that this weekend’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Leicester City will be tough and that his side may need to be patient to get their rewards.

The Seagulls play host to The Foxes at Broadfield Stadium on Sunday afternoon. After a bright start to the season, Brighton & Hove Albion go into the weekend in fourth place in the league table.

When speaking to the media in the pre-match press conference, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Vidošić reflected on the challenges that Leicester City will pose.

“We know we probably will need to be patient at the weekend,” Vidošić said. “We know that they’re defensively very good, very dangerous in transition moments, so we have to be careful with the ball where we look to play and not to carelessly give it away where they will hurt you.

“They’ve got good players, they can play as well, so we know it’s a tough game. We’ll prepare as best we can over the two days leading up.

“We’re looking forward to going back home and having a good crowd come out to Crawley. Hopefully, we will have a nice afternoon and again, just try to go out and win the game.”

Following Brighton & Hove Albion’s excellent start to the season, Vidošić received the Barclays Women’s Super League’s Manager of the Month award for October. Reflecting on the award, Vidošić said that it was a team effort.

He said “We’ve had some really good games, some tough, tough games too. I’m still learning a lot because I’m still quite young in my coaching career, so it’s only like my third year, my first I took over a day before the season started. It’s been good.

“We set out to play our way and to try to go out and win. We wanted to develop the players as well individually and then collectively because that makes us a lot better.

“Massive compliments to the girls, all of the staff and everyone working and helping the women’s side, it’s a team effort. We just want to continue to get better, keep challenging and we know that starts with a tough game against Leicester this weekend.”

Forward Kiko Seike is also celebrating winning an award with the player having picked up the Asian Football Confederation’s Player of the Year award. Vidošić hailed Seike’s strong start at Brighton & Hove Albion but highlighted the fact that she is still transitioning into English football.

He said “She’s been really, really good. She’s still adapting, she’s still learning the language which sometimes can be tricky. There are a lot of changes in a game as well, so sometimes, it’s a little bit difficult to get that message to her. She’s doing well, she’s trying to learn as quickly as possible, so we’re just trying to find the right times.

“She started really, really well. It takes time to adapt coming from a new country. We’re patient with her, we know her quality and I’ve got no doubt that she’ll be back out there soon to show everyone those qualities.”
