Inigo Martinez was the latest FC Barcelona player to get a contract renewal as he extended his contract till 2026 this past Thursday. Before him, the Blaugranes had already renewed the contracts of other important players like Ronald Araujo, Pedri, Gavi, and Pau Cubarsi.
Meanwhile, the Catalans are also working on the renewals of some other players, and have reportedly already undertaken contacts with players like Jules Kounde and Raphinha.
But the player who is next in line to get a renewal is the striker Robert Lewandowski, who has already played the stipulated number of games in his contract that will give him an automatic one-year renewal.
It remains to be seen how negotiations with these players go in the coming months, but one player with whom these negotiations have already been quite complicated is the midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
The Dutchman’s contract is ending in 2026, so Barcelona are keen to reach an agreement for a renewal with him. Lately, relations between the two parties have improved, but negotiations for this renewal are not expected to resume till the end of the season.

Meanwhile, there is a lot of anxiety among the fans and the media on how his future will pan out. This was clear from how Hansi Flick was asked to address this topic in his press conference that he undertook ahead of the game against Atletico Madrid.
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the German coach avoided giving a clear answer in response to this question:
“It will depend on the club and on him. We’ll see. He suffered an injury and has improved; he’s doing very well with the ball and has given us a lot of possession. I’m very happy to have him on my team.”
Frenkie’s importance in Flick’s plans has already increased significantly in the last few weeks, and he is one of the regular starters for the Barcelona coach now. Thus, Flick will also be keen to have him in his team going forward, but as he himself commented, it is still quite unclear how his future will pan out.
