West Ham United have confirmed the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United in a deal worth around £15 million.

After completing his medical, the full-back signed a long-term contract committing his future to the club and strengthening their defensive line-up ahead of the new season.

Man United were keen to offload the former England youth international, who had just one year remaining on his contract at the Theatre of Dreams.

The deal previously appeared to be on the brink of collapse due to a protracted dispute over salary reductions.

However, all parties were keen to find a mutually beneficial solution, and the deal has now been finalised just days before West Ham’s curtain raiser against Aston Villa at the London Stadium.

Wan-Bissaka’s departure from Old Trafford was widely anticipated, given his reduced role under Erik ten Hag, although injuries also played a part in his struggle for first-team minutes.

Nevertheless, he is renowned as one of the best 1v1 defenders in the Premier League and would be a decent addition for West Ham if he can stay fit.

West Ham could still make a couple of additions to the squad

West Ham have been relentless in their quest to build a squad strong enough to compete for European qualification and silverware this season.

Club owner David Sullivan has spared no expense in backing Julen Lopetegui to reshape the squad in his image, and they’re now on the brink of confirming an eighth addition.

Wan-Bissaka is a decent acquisition for the Hammers, but they may still need to add a couple more players to bolster their options, especially in defence.

West Ham need cover for Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo, especially with Kurt Zouma finalising his exit and Nayef Aguerd expected to follow suit.

The club has been linked with an audacious move for former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels, who is a free agent.
