West Ham United have no intention of parting ways with Mohammed Kudus despite reported interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.
According to journalist Mike McGrath, the Hammers plan to reject any offers before the transfer window closes on February 3.
Kudus has been a player in demand since his arrival in London in August 2023, but West Ham are committed to keeping him as a key figure in their squad.
The Ghanaian’s time with West Ham has been far from smooth sailing, especially after his sending-off during the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in October.
His undeniable talent has shone at times, but consistency has been an issue.
However, new West Ham boss Graham Potter is renowned for developing players and maximising their potential.
Kudus has struggled for form recently, but he is clearly an important player for Potter. There’s a general feeling that he can rediscover his best form under his guidance.
After bagging eight goals and six assists in the Premier League last season, Kudus has only tallied three goals and one assist this term.
With West Ham currently sitting 14th in the table after 23 matches, the club desperately needs their attacking players to step up, and Kudus has shown he can make a difference when in top form.
Injuries have hit West Ham hard, leaving Potter with limited attacking options.
Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio are sidelined for the foreseeable future, forcing the manager to experiment with his squad.
Lucas Paqueta has already taken on additional responsibilities, filling in as a makeshift centre-forward in recent games.
He has already repaid the manager’s faith, netting in back-to-back games against Aston Villa and Fulham.
West Ham fans are already demanding the same from Kudus, whose speed, dribbling ability and creativity can provide the spark the Hammers need.
While some fans have grown frustrated with his inconsistency, patience could pay off if Potter is given the time to rebuild the squad properly.
