Not only has he made 13 appearances in all competitions this term, but the teenager also opened his senior account with a well-taken header in a 2-1 victory over Bristol City.

Unsurprisingly, his emergence has attracted attention from clubs higher up the footballing pyramid, with Fabrizio Romano reporting via his X account on 10 April that the Tractor Boys have been keeping a close eye on Oné’s development with the Blades this season.

Speaking about the possibility of losing their young star this summer, Chris Wilder gave his verdict on the 18-year-old's contract.

"Ryan Oné's under contract for the next 20 years here so don't worry about that", Wilder jokingly told the Sheffield Star.

"Ryan's got a huge future in front of him and his future is in a red and white shirt."

Of course, the talk of a 20-year deal was merely a tongue-in-cheek remark, but Wilder’s comments make it clear he has no intention of letting the youngster go any time soon.

With that in mind, Football League World have taken a closer look at the young striker's current contract situation at Bramall Lane.

If you wanted an eye into how much Sheffield United envisage Oné being part of their future, then you need to look no further than the deal they offered him last summer.

While it may not be the ‘20-year’ deal Wilder joked about, the youngster is still secured on a solid long-term contract, keeping him at Bramall Lane until 2029.

Citing reasons for offering him this length of time, academy manager Derek Geary said: "He's still very young but has all the potential to go to the highest level.

"His attitude, character and potential is very much a Sheffield United player and we are delighted to have him."

Having joined from Hamilton Academical in 2023, his next objective will be to establish himself as a regular in the Blades’ first-team squad.

Should Sheffield United secure promotion to the Premier League, that challenge may become somewhat tougher. However, another season in the Championship could well see the Blades turn to Oné as a more regular option.

Ryan Oné's current Sheffield United wages

Looking beyond the length of his contract, here at FLW we've also taken a closer look at the wages involved and whether they may need reviewing to help retain him at the club.

According to Capology’s wage estimation system, the 18-year-old is currently earning around £1,000 per week.

Over the course of a season, that equates to £52,000 – by some distance the lowest figure in the squad. Only the likes of Ollie Arblaster and Christian Nwachukwu come close, reportedly earning £2,000 per week.

Of course, these figures are to be expected given his age and relative inexperience, but the Blades’ hierarchy may need to consider revisiting his terms if other clubs begin circling.

Ipswich would almost certainly be in a position to offer more lucrative personal terms, and with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool having previously shown interest, United could face a real battle to keep hold of One.

So, while his contract runs until 2029, if Wilder truly envisions a long-term future for the 18-year-old at Bramall Lane, the club may need to act swiftly to improve his current deal.
