Chelsea’s team news for tonight’s game is out, and as we expected there are major changes all around.
Enzo Maresca has given Malo Gusto a break at right back, bringing in Axel Disasi for a game. That will likely mean that the Frenchman tucks in pretty narrow, and Marc Cucurella has free reign to push forward into attacking areas and into midfield.
They play ahead of Filip Jorgensen, given his second Premier League start of the season in defence.
The midfield is unchanged – the Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo, Cole Palmer trio is set up perfectly to try and see off their opposition in the early stages, and if we have a lead in the second half we can take them off. That’s the dream, anyway.

In contrast, the attacking trio is fully changed. Noni Madueke is back on the right wing after his dropping, Joao Felix returns to the left wing after a long period without a Premier League start, and Christopher Nkunku gets a start leading the line in place of the shattered Nicolas Jackson.
All three of them are pushing to play more, and all will likely feel disappointed that they aren’t a solid established starter at this point. Well – this is your chance to prove it boys. Ipswich aren’t the best team in the league – in fact they’re the 19th best. So even in a tough wintery away game with a tired group against a team battling relegation, we expect effective attacking play – and hopefully a few goals.
It’s a stylistically very different attack to the Jackson – Pedro Neto – Sancho trio which has become the template. We can’t wait to see how they get on.
