Empoli midfielder Liam Henderson received two yellow cards during last night’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against Juventus, but was not sent off.

The Tuscans emerged victorious in a penalty shoot-out at the Allianz Juventus Stadium following the 1-1 draw in 90 minutes.

Henderson had been booked during the match for a mistimed tackle, then received another card as punishment for excessive celebration under the end with the Juventus ultras after converting his penalty.

Not an error to keep Henderson on the pitch

There was no dismissal, but this is not to be considered an error from the referee.

As the second yellow card was handed out during the penalty shoot-out, this is a separate event to the match itself.

It will simply be added to Henderson’s accumulation of yellow cards during the competition.

Empoli are set to face Bologna in the two-legged Coppa Italia semi-final, while the other tie is between Inter and Milan.

It has now been confirmed that the first leg Empoli vs. Bologna will be on Tuesday April 1, with Milan vs. Inter on Wednesday April 2.
