While Milan and goalkeeper Mike Maignan have reached a verbal agreement to extend his contract until 2028, the Rossoneri are reportedly hesitating to put pen to paper.
Milan have been in talks for months with the France international over a contract renewal at San Siro, with recent reports suggesting they have agreed on a new €5 million-per-season deal that would make him one of the club’s highest earners.

Despite this understanding, the official announcement has been postponed due to both strategic and on-the-pitch considerations.
As reported by Pianetamilan, transfer expert Matteo Moretto explained that Milan are first waiting to appoint a new sporting director, who must align with their economic strategies before giving the green light to this significant financial commitment.
Secondly, the Rossoneri are reportedly concerned about Maignan’s recent form and are therefore considering whether the goalkeeper is truly worth the investment.

The 29-year-old was reportedly among the players under scrutiny by coach Sergio Conceiçao, with recent reports suggesting that the manager considers him overweight and believes it is affecting his performances.
