Wissam Ben Yedder to sign for Serie A side Venezia

Wissam Ben Yedder (34) is closing in on a move to Serie A side Venezia FC, according to Fabrizio Romano. The Italian reporter adds that the France international centre-forward was in attendance this Sunday at Venezia’s Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo for the hosts’ home Serie A 1-0 loss against Claudio Ranieri’s AS Roma. Venezia are 19th in the Italian first-tier standings. Ben Yedder has been a free agent since the expiry of his five-year contract at AS Monaco last June.

The former Sevilla striker has not played a game since May but this hasn’t kept him out of the headlines. In November, the forward was found guilty of sexual assault while intoxicated. He was handed a suspended two-year prison sentence that he appealed. Ben Yedder could still make a move to an Italian club with the deadline to register free agents in Italy on the 25th of February.
