After Wolfsburg broke the bank to sign Julian Draxler for a club record fee of €36m in 2015, the club is ready to break the bank once again for Lovro Majer. As per journalist Fabrizio Romano, the German club is closing in on a deal to sign the player from Ligue 1 team Rennes. The deal will make Majer the second most expensive signing in the history of the club.
As per a tweet from Fabrizio Romano, Wolfsburg are close to agreeing a deal with Rennes on a fee in excess of €30m package. The tweet further mentioned that medical tests for the player are being scheduled, and once the final details are discussed, the deal will be done. Wolfsburg investing such an amount in the 25-year-old is a testament to the faith the team has in him.
Once Wolfsburg is able to seal the deal for Lovro Majer, it would be safe to say that the player will be a valuable addition to their squad. In 79 appearances for Rennes, Majer impressed everyone with 9 goals and 16 assists. During his time at the French club, he displayed some really good performances in the center of the pitch that grabbed the attention of many clubs.
