Wolverhampton Wanderers have made a second bid for Lens central defender Kevin Danso.
That is according to FootMercato, which has reported the response that Wolves have received after their second offer for Danso.
The report in the French news outlet has claimed that Lens turned down Wolves’s first approach for the 26-year-old central defender a few weeks ago.
The Premier League club are determined to secure the services of the Austria international centre-back and have made a new bid.
According to FootMercato, Wolves’s second offer is €22 million (£18.47 million) including bonuses. Lens have rejected it.
Danso has been on the books of Lens since the summer of 2021. The Austria international centre-back has done well for the French club and has developed over the years.
The 26-year-old has made 12 appearances in Ligue 1 so far this season and scored one goal in 30 matches in the 2023-24 campaign. The centre-back also played six times in the UEFA Champions League and once in the UEFA Europa League last season.
Wolves are fighting for survival in the Premier League at the moment, and signing a good defender like Danso would help the Wanderers in their quest to avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship.
The Wanderers are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 16 points from 23 matches, a point behind 17th-placed Leicester City.
Meanwhile, Lens currently find themselves seventh in the Ligue 1 table with 30 points from 19 games, four points behind third-placed AS Monaco.
Wolves will return to action this coming Saturday when they take on Aston Villa at Molineux Stadium in the Premier League.
The Wanderers will head into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in front of their fans in the league.
