Talks between Wolves and Real Betis regarding Johnny Cardoso, who Tottenham Hotspur have an option on, have not advanced yet.
Wolves, under their new boss, Vitor Pereira, are looking to turn their form around and secure their Premier League safety.
The Midlands outfit are in the market to strengthen several departments and a defensive midfielder is someone they are keen on adding in this window.
It has been suggested that Wolves are interested in signing Betis star Cardoso and they have approached the La Liga outfit.
Tottenham Hotspur have a €25m buy option on Cardoso, which they negotiated during Giovani Lo Celso’s deal last summer.
Spurs will have a two-week window next summer to activate Cardoso’s option.
According to Spanish outlet Relevo, Wolves have not advanced in their discussions with Real Betis for Cardoso and are a long way off from agreeing to a deal.
The Midlands outfit are at the moment considering making an offer, but they might have to dig deep in their pockets as Betis consider Cardoso an important player.
It is also suggested that Cardoso is likely to stay at Betis until next summer; now it remains to be seen whether Wolves will be able to convince him on a move.
