Wolverhampton Wanderers should seriously consider selling Adama Traore if a lucrative bid is lodged during the summer transfer window, according to Express & Star journalist Luke Hatfield.

What's the latest news involving Traore?

Traore attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window as Nuno Espirito Santo, who left Wolves by mutual agreement at the end of last season and took charge of Spurs in June, was keen to be reunited with the Spain international.

But the north Londoners were frustrated in their efforts to prise Traore away from Molineux as, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, Wolves rejected a £30million bid late in the window and were only willing to offload the 25-year-old for £50million.

Spurs' interest has led to Wolves wanting to tie Traore down to a new deal, with the winger's current £43,000-per-week deal having less than two years to run.

Last month, reports suggested Traore was on the verge of penning an extended contract worth close to £100,000-per-week, which would make him one of the top earners at Wolves.

However, he has yet to agree terms and it appears there are more admirers ahead of the transfer window reopening in January as Spanish news outlet El Nacional claim Jurgen Klopp sees Traore as a potential option as he looks to freshen up his Liverpool squad.

What has Luke Hatfield said about Traore's future at Wolves?

Hatfield believes Wolves should assess their options if Traore fails to pen a new deal and a big bid is submitted when the transfer market reopens for business.

The journalist believes Traore's lack of consistency could play a major role in whether head coach Bruno Lage allows the winger to move onto pastures new.

Hatfield told GIVEMESPORT: "It's a lot of money to get for a player whose future isn't guaranteed at the club.

"He is not the youngest player in the world anymore - it's not like he's 22 years of age.

"He's pushed on from there now in terms of years on the pitch and we're yet to see that end product really reveal itself on a consistent basis."

How has Traore performed so far this season?

Traore has been involved in every fixture so far this campaign and was made to settle for substitute appearances in in back-to-back fixtures before returning to the starting line-up at Aston Villa.

He has failed to add to the 10 goals and 18 assists he has amassed during his time with the club after a slow start to the season.

Traore's lack of goal threat also resulted in him not being called up by Spain during the international break despite his selection and featuring twice last month.
