It was an incredible encounter that reached a thrilling climax. It ended 4-4 between Lazio and Inter on the final matchday of the first phase of Serie A 2024/25. The match, which was full of twists and turns and no fewer than eight goals, saw the Nerazzurre get off to an authoritative start, taking a 2-0 lead, only to allow the Biancocelesti back into it. Lazio, led by an on-song Martina Piemonte, snatched a point in the dying minutes.

For Piovani's team there is certainly the regret of not having closed this phase with a victory, but there remains the security of having secured second place in the table with 38 points.

Inter got off to a flying start as they took the lead after just two minutes through Tomaselli, who drove into the box and fired past the Lazio goalkeeper with a precise right-footed shot. In the 8th minute, the Nerazzurre doubled their lead: Csiszar, fed brilliantly by Schough, unleashed a surgical right-footer from the edge of the are to make it 2-0 to the Nerazzurre. Piovani's side, in a strong position with the two-goal lead, lowered the pace to better manage the match but still came close to the third goal in the 29th minute when Schough picked up a pass from Cambiaghi and hit the post with a powerful effort. Towards the end of the first half, Lazio tried to react with a shot by D'Auria in the 37th minute, well saved by Rúnarsdóttir.

The second half began with an early chance for Inter: in the 50th minute, Merlo went close to scoring but sent her effort just wide. Ten minutes later, Lazio pulled one back through Piemonte, who was quick to latch onto Benoit's assist and make it 2-1. Only two minutes passed and, in the 64th minute, it was Piemonte again, this time rifling home a spectacular volley to level up proceedings. Inter, however, did not give up and, in the 66th minute, restored their lead through Magull, who, with a precise right-footed shot from the edge of the box, scored to make it 3-2. Just three minutes later, in the 69th minute, Merlo made it four for the Nerazzurre, latching onto a loose ball in the box and slotting it home. The Nerazzurre seemed to be in control, but, in the 81st minute, they wasted the chance to kill off the match through Bugeja who, in front of an open goal, failed to score the possible fifth goal. Lazio reacted and cut the deficit once more in the 84th minute through Piemonte, who found the net following a sharp turn in the penalty area. In the dying minutes, it was again the Biancocelesti's striker who rose to the top: with an impeccable touch and a right-footed shot, she made it four for herself and for Lazio, completing the comeback.
