Manchester City are keeping an eye on RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons ahead of a potential big-money summer swoop, according to O Jogo.

The Cityzens are gearing up for a huge summer shake-up, with key leaders Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva linked with moves away from the Etihad Stadium.

De Bruyne’s contract runs out at the end of the season, and so far, there’s no indication that he’ll sign a new deal despite being Pep Guardiola’s most trusted lieutenant.

The 33-year-old remains a vital cog in Guardiola’s fluid attacking system, although his impact in the team has waned as he approaches the twilight of his illustrious career.

The veteran playmaker has returned just three goals and six assists in 26 games across all competitions this season.

Guardiola is still a huge fan of the midfield maestro, but there’s a huge chance he could end his trophy-laden decade-long career in Manchester this summer.

Clubs in Saudi Arabia are already readying their chequebooks ahead of another potential big-money splurge next summer.

De Bruyne is strongly focused on finishing the season with City, but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from repeatedly churning out exit speculation.

The same applies to Silva. The Portugal international has been linked with a move away from City for the past couple of years, but the Cityzens have been extremely reluctant to let him leave.

However, with his contract set to run out in 2026, City might be more willing to accept bids in the summer to avoid another contract haggle or potentially losing him for free.

City have already lost Kyle Walker, so letting De Bruyne and Silva walk at the same time would be a huge blow, but they’re already preparing contingency plans.

After excelling on loan at Leipzig, Simons joined Die Roten Bullen on a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain in January.
