You might not think it, but here’s one positive from Southampton’s season

The senior Southampton players might be running around like headless chickens, but the U21s are doing alright. In fact, they're fourth in the Premier League 2 table.
Throughout the history of time, Southampton has always had pride in the youth academy. Some of the best players to ever grace the Premier League have come through the Southampton youth setup, including Alan Shearer and Matt Le Tissier. Perhaps there's just something in that sea-breeze.
This season, it's no different. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the diamonds in the rough for Southampton's senior team have been the young players. The likes of Tyler Dibling and Taylor Harwood-Bellis have stepped up when those around them haven't. Unfortunately, though, these young diamonds in the rough are likely to be on their way out of St Marys Stadium this summer.
Fear not; it's not just the first-team youngsters who are outperforming their peers, but the academy prospects are showing great potential, too. One positive to take from Southampton's season is that the U21 side is currently fourth in the Premier League 2 standings, only bettered by West Ham, Fulham and Man City.
The young Saints are unbeaten in the last six games across all competitions. This weekend, the Saints hope to make it seven unbeaten, as they travel to face Middlesbrough U21 in the Premier League 2. We are certainly the favourites to win this one, considering the opposition is 24th in the table and with just one win in their last five.
Elsewhere, it might appear all doom and gloom for Southampton. Indeed, the club is in a rotten position and there seems to be no way out. However, there is no bad way to look at the form of the U21s this season. The young Saints performing well can ONLY mean good things for Southampton.
