The fifth round of the Adobe Women's FA Cup is set to take place this weekend as eight teams battle it out for spot in the quarter-final stage of the beloved competition.

The fourth round of the knockout competition brought the fireworks, with 78 goals scored across the 16 fixtures. Now down to just eight competitors, the games are certainly going to become even more action-packed.

2024 champions Manchester United remain in the race to defend their title, and 14-time victors Arsenal are also ready to rise to the challenge.

Ten Women's Super League (WSL) remain in the race to Wembley Stadium, with lower-tier sides Wolverhampton Wanderers and Rugby Borough making up impressive ground in the competition.

Who won last year?

Manchester United took home the crown in 2024, after a 4-0 thrashing of Tottenham Hotspur was enough to reign them victorious under the arch of Wembley Stadium. The win marked United's first piece of silverware since the club's inception in 2018.

Arsenal have long been the historical giants of the FA Cup, winning the competition a total of 14 times. Despite the club's national dominance, the last time the Gunners bagged the silverware was nine years ago in the 2015/16 season when they defeated Chelsea 1-0.

Chelsea and Manchester City have shared the domestic glory ever since Arsenal's dominance began to dwindle. City have taken home the gold in three seasons since, with Chelsea winning it on four occasions.

FA Cup fixtures

The first matches of the upcoming round will take place on Saturday 8 February, with Aston Villa vs Brighton & Hove Albion set to kick off the action at midday. Third tier Wolves will host Manchester United later that day, with the other six matches set to take place on Sunday 9 February.

Upcoming fifth round fixtures

The fifth round is set to host some thrilling fixtures as 16 teams battle it out for a spot in the quarter-final stages.

Wolves will be looking to stage an almighty 'cupset' as they host last season's champions at AFC Telford United. Championship sides Portsmouth and Sunderland will battle it out on the south-coast, whilst Arsenal host London City Lionesses in a London derby at Meadow Park.

FA Women's National League side Rugby Borough will be searching to make history against top-flight side Liverpool, whilst four WSL teams will come head-to-head as Aston Villa host Brighton, and Man City host Leicester City.

WSL strugglers Crystal Palace host Newcastle United all before Chelsea round off the weekend with a Sunday afternoon meeting against Everton.

The FA have confirmed that all eight of the fifth-round fixtures will be streamed live to watch across the FA Player and the competition's new YouTube channel.

The BBC have confirmed their broadcast pick for the round, with Rugby Borough vs Liverpool set to kick-off on Sunday at 12:30 GMT.
