VfL Bochum trainer Peter Zeidler revealed that he opted to compromise his own principles for his team while speaking at his Thursday pre-match presser.

Coming back from a deliberately packed international break, last-placed Bundesliga side VfL Bochum seek to secure their first win of the season this weekend during their trip to Sinsheim. Bochum trainer Peter Zeidler's Reverklub head down south to the Rhein-Neckar-Region to take on Pellegrino Matarazzo's TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. Speaking at his Thursday pre-match presser at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion, Zeidler declared himself largely satisfied with his team's performance against 1. FC Köln in a highly scrutinized test fixture over the break.

Zeidler reserved special praise for his "3M" trio of players "Momo, Miyoshi, and Moritz". By this he meant three of his starters: Mortiz-Broni Kwarteng, Koji Miyoshi, and Moritz Broschinski. Kwarteng and Broschinski both registered goals in the 2-3 loss at the RheinEnergieStadion. Miyoshi played well stationed deeper in midfield on a third-axis assignment in Zeidler's 4-4-2. The old adage that "great things come in threes" ended up applying to Zeidler's presser was a whole.

The coach revealed that he opted to compromise one of own principles. The presence of alcohol in the locker room following a win was hitherto strictly forbidden as the 62-year-old trainer considered the substance to be detrimental to the post-match regeneration process. Thanks to the fact that Bochum haven't won yet this season, the relatively old rookie Bundesliga gaffer decided to turn this rule on its head. In an effort to motivate the team that took ten match-days to secure their first win last season, Zeidler went for broke.

“Three points [equals] three cases of beer,” Zeidler noted when asked by Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung what he had in store for his players if they won, "That would be a great pleasure for me. We can agree that the coach pays for three cases of beer after every win."

Zeidler did not specify whether non-alcoholic beer was intended.
