FC Barcelona are still dealing with several complications in regards to their transfer operations. However, even with the club having returned to the 1:1 rule, there are still some issues that remain unresolved. The most notable, without a doubt, would still be the registration issues for Barcelona.
Yet, that may not be the only new complication brewing for the Catalan giants moving forward. So far this season, Hansi Flick has made use of all the players that were at his disposal instead of making excuses about the number of key players who were not available.
One player whose absence paved the way for other players was none other than Ronald Araujo. The Uruguayan defender, considered by many as the leading centre-back at Barcelona, was out due to an injury he suffered during last year’s Copa America tournament.
In his place, both Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez became Flick’s most reliable defensive partnership. So far this season, they have shown time and time again that they are both on the same wavelength and have managed to outsmart some of Europe’s biggest teams.
However, in light of this lack of importance recently despite his solid outing against UD Barbastro, Araujo may even reportedly consider changing his scenery from the Spanish league to the Italian Serie A. According to Mundo Deportivo, Italian sources are now reporting that the Barcelona centre-back has allegedly given the green light to join Thiago Motta’s Juventus.
With a contract in place until 2026, Araujo may be willing to join the Serie A side and leave Barcelona following lengthy contract negotiations with no final verdict so far. Moreover, Juventus are hoping to secure his signing on loan during this winter transfer window and they hope to include a mandatory purchase clause at the end as well.
Even though the Serie A giants do not have any spots left for Non-EU players in the squad, Araujo holds a Spanish passport, which in turn benefits their situation. However, there is nothing concrete so far and it remains to be seen if the €55 million-rated Barcelona star ultimately ends up going down this route.
