Manchester City and AC Milan have reportedly reached an agreement over the transfer of Tijjani Reijnders this summer, according to Italian media.

It comes after it had emerged that the Premier League side submitted their opening offer to the San Siro club on Thursday evening, which reportedly comprised of an initial €55 million fee with a further €5 million in add-ons.

Having seen that opening offer rejected swiftly by officials at the Italian club, Manchester City were expected to maintain their negotiations and contact for the Netherlands international, who is viewed as a primary target for the summer market.

Tijjani Reijnders is believed to be one of four new arrivals anticipated for Pep Guardiola’s first-team squad this summer, before any possible outgoings are accounted for as a number of existing player’s and their respective futures remain in doubt.

Club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak also revealed earlier this week that the firm intention from within the club was to finalise transfers before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup later in June, and it now appears as though the first arrival is almost through the door.

That is according to the information of DAZN’s Orazio Accomando, who reveals that Manchester City and AC Milan have now reached an agreement over the transfer of Tijjani Reijnders to the Etihad Stadium this summer.

It is detailed that the overall operation will be worth approximately €70 million in total, with potential bonuses included in that figure, and only the ‘final bureaucratic details’ still to be finalised between both parties.

Manchester City may have the possibility of formally welcoming Tijjani Reijnders to the club as early as next week, with a mini-summer transfer window opening to teams on Sunday for a 10-day period ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.

And a completed deal would likely see the Dutchman join up with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City squad in the United States for the tournament, with the team expected to reconvene ahead of the competition shortly after the June international break.

The 26-year-old is part of the latest Netherlands squad selected for fixtures in June, working alongside soon-to-be Manchester City teammate Nathan Ake – who is continuing to recover from an injury-hit season.

For now, it also remains to be seen whether Tijjani Reijnders will be seen as a direct replacement for a member of Pep Guardiola’s squad, with reports in Turkey suggesting interest from their clubs in the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva this summer.
