Manchester United are set to appoint Marc Armstrong as their Chief Business Officer (CBO) after reaching an agreement with Paris Saint-German, according to The Athletic.
The Red Devils have had financial issues despite INEOS taking charge of footballing operations. There have been plenty of job cuts with co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe believing the club could otherwise go bust.
Amidst this, the Mancunian giants have decided to appoint PSG’s Chief Financial offer Armstrong as their new CBO. He will join in the coming weeks and a start date has already been ‘agreed’.
The news should be a welcome boost for the Red Devils as they aim to increase their revenue ahead of the next transfer window and beyond.
United are poised to save plenty of their wage bill this summer with the anticipated exits of Jadon Sancho, Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans.
Casemiro could also be offloaded from the ranks while Aston Villa could trigger a buy clause in Marcus Rashford’s loan contract if he were to impress in the coming months.
While that happens, United also need to work on improving their revenue for the future. Armstrong seems a perfect fit, having enhanced PSG’s financial position since his arrival three years ago.
He has prior experience of working in the Marketing department for the NBA and appears a shrewd acquisition to the board by INEOS ahead of the summer.
United will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Tottenham Hotspur on the road tomorrow.
Ahead of the encounter, they have suffered a massive setback with Amad Diallo and Kobbie Mainoo picking up injuries. Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer are also major doubts.
