A recent report from SPORT has revealed that Al-Ahli forward Roberto Firmino might pose a significant threat to one of Barcelona’s key revenue streams.

It all started when Palmeiras showed interest in signing Vitor Roque, a promising young striker who is expected to turn 20 this month.

The Brazilian club has been keen on acquiring Roque due to his immense potential, youth, and goal-scoring abilities, making him a highly marketable player.

Palmeiras attempted to secure the Blaugrana forward during the previous transfer window, offering €27 million for 80% of his economic rights.

Had the deal gone through, Barcelona would have made a profit, especially considering that Roque was initially signed for €30 million, with an additional €31 million in potential add-ons that have yet to be met.

This deal would have helped bolster Barcelona’s financial position.

Firmino enters the list

However, Palmeiras is not solely focused on Roque. Roberto Firmino, currently playing for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, could be another option for the Brazilian side.

Firmino, at 33 years old, has not been content with his situation in Saudi Arabia and is considering a move back to Brazil, where he has never had the chance to play for a top club.

Palmeiras may be swayed by the possibility of securing Firmino before the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, a factor that could influence their decision-making.

Nothing is certain

At this stage, there have been no official negotiations with Firmino, who is under contract with Al-Ahli until June 2026.

His situation remains in the early stages of consideration. In contrast, Palmeiras has already made direct contact with Roque’s representatives, indicating a more advanced interest in securing his signature.

Meanwhile, Roque’s contract with Barcelona runs until June 2031, and he is currently on loan at Real Betis for the season.

Betis have the option to extend the loan for another year, and at the end of the loan period, they can activate a non-mandatory purchase option of €25 million for 80% of his economic rights.
