A bizarre game at Brighton which saw two second-half penalties ruled out by VAR, finally on 89 minutes a third one survived a check.

Alexander Isak stepping up to send the keeper in the wrong direction and this could be such an important goal and point in the final analysis.

Alexander Isak now has 23 Premier League goals this season, as well as four goals in the domestic cups.

Today’s goal means he equals the 23 PL goals that Alan Shearer scored in the 2001/02 season, with no NUFC player scoring as many in the intervening years.

“You take the responsibility and it’s tough but I like that responsibility.

“It was a bit tough to prepare for a penalty three times. That was a new experience but I’m happy I kept my concentration.

“That’s football, it’s a range of emotions.

“You get the penalty and you feel happy, then you get disappointed. But you have to leave it behind quick and focus on the game, which I did.

“Before the game, we wanted to win it.

“But being 1-0 down for the most part of the game, you start thinking about getting a point and go from there.

“It’s a good mentality from the group to stay in the game.

“We’re battling for a lot and it’s an exciting period.”
