Atlanta United hosts Nashville SC this Saturday under pressure as a result of poor performances and the worst early-season record in team history. Having lost their last three games and failed to score in any of them, the team head into Matchday 11 below the playoff position and desperately in need of turning their fortunes around. Nashville, meanwhile, arrive having thumped Chicago Fire 7-2 in one of the most lopsided results of the season.

Disappointment piles up, sub-par performances ensue

The season started to high hope in Atlanta. Returning from last season's team and inking the biggest pay contract ever achieved, Emmanuel Latte Lath had great expectation. Two wins only from a ten-game record however, on the pitch. They are at 12th place of the Eastern Conference for ten points after dropping their fourth game in succession.

The recent series of three matches with three defeats without scoring has gone to point out the attacking problems. The goal difference is -8. So far, the investment has not translated to performances or results.

In a relief to head coach Ronny Deila, Latte Lath returns available again after being suspended last week. The striker arrived with promise but has so far failed to find consistency. His comeback is when Atlanta is not scoring, it has not scored since the win against Chicago Fire. Another guy in the spotlight is Miguel Almirón. He's not managed to make a difference. At the age of 30, he still has technical quality, yet team chemistry and tactical aptness have not clicked.

Nashville on high after blowout victory

Nashville defeated Chicago Fire 7-2 in the final round, with Sam Surridge scoring four goals. Hany Mukhtar scored two goals and provided one assist. Andy Najar chipped in with three assists. It was one of the season's best attacking performances and provided a boost to the team ahead of the Atlanta trip. That victory was Nashville's fifth of 2025 and their second in their last three matches. The side is currently at sixth position in the conference on 16 points and could go higher depending on other games this weekend.

Current form brings optimism for the visitors

Nashville has five wins, four draws, and three losses to date. They last won against Atlanta away from home in September 2024 with a clean sheet. Alex Muyl scored in the fifth minute, and Mukhtar sealed the win in the 76th minute. It was BJ Callaghan's first win since he became the head coach of the team. To return to the same venue on a good run only increases the confidence level of the team.
