Just one member of Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid squad was unable to play his part in training on Friday.

The player in question? Rodrigo Riquelme.

Atlético are of course currently in the midst of final preparations for an altogether important outing on Saturday night.

In a crunch top-of-the-table showdown in La Liga, the Rojiblancos will make the short trip to the Santiago Bernabéu, for a meeting with arch rivals Real Madrid.

Atlético head into the matchup in the knowledge that a victory will see them leapfrog Carlo Ancelotti’s Real into top spot in the Spanish top-flight standings.

Fans of the capital club, in turn, will no doubt be delighted to hear of their side boasting a near full-strength group of players for the derby.

As confirmed by Pedro Fullana of SER, Rodrigo Riquelme, struggling with a bout of illness, was the only member of Diego Simeone’s squad to miss training on Friday.

It is also worth noting that Robin Le Normand will not be available for selection on Saturday, owing to suspension.
