FC Barcelona have just recently managed to secure a big win in La Liga, but the work does not stop there. For the Catalan giants, the recent win over CA Osasuna was just another step in the right direction. Beyond that, Barcelona must continue to make each and every single game count.
Up next for La Blaugrana is a clash against Girona in La Liga, and that will also take place at the Montjuic Stadium. Heading into the final games of the season in Spanish league, Barça at least have an advantage of sorts when it comes to contesting most of those games in the last stretch of the season at their own home stadium in front of their own fans.
Unfortunately, however, the win over Osasuna did not come without certain consequences either. Already scheduled at a point where the club basically had little to no time when it came to recovering their players from the international break, Barça ultimately ended up suffering a rather significant injury in that game as well.
Dani Olmo, injured early in the first-half of the game shortly after scoring his penalty, had to be taken off. Now, as per recent reports, he is set to be sidelined for around three weeks and that means he will end up missing out on some very important games.
However, Hansi Flick is not going to sit idle and already seems to be looking at the options to replace him. According to Mundo Deportivo, the most natural replacement that Barcelona currently has for the injured Spaniard is fellow midfielder Gavi.
Having played in the recent game against Osasuna, Gavi was impressive in terms of both his tenacity and technical ability. He challenged every duel with eagerness and hunger, showcasing that he is more than capable of performing at the highest level even with fewer minutes than usual.
Alternatively, the options of both Fermin Lopez and Pablo Torre are also there. Despite not having started the game, both players were impressive in the minutes that they played and it was clear to see that they each have their own distinct qualities to provide if needed.
In other news, Frenkie de Jong also seemed to have been substituted at half-time against Osasuna due to some discomfort. Fortunately, however, MD reports that it is likely nothing serious and it seems realistic to see him be available for Barcelona against Michel’s Girona.
