Barcelona are on the verge of securing Jules Kounde’s long-term future, with an agreement in principle almost finalised to extend his contract until 2030, as reported by David Bernabeu in SPORT.
While Kounde’s current deal runs until 2027, Barcelona are eager to ensure his continued presence at the club for an additional three seasons, keeping him at the club until he turns 31.
The Catalan club is highly satisfied with his performances, particularly his adaptation to the full-back role.
Initially brought in as a centre-back, the Frenchman has seamlessly transitioned into a right-back, where he has excelled. On his part, Kounde is content with his role in the squad and fully committed to Barcelona’s long-term project.
As part of the new deal, Kounde will receive a small salary increase, with Barcelona prioritising contract length over a substantial wage hike.
This strategy allows the club to secure a key player for an extended period while maintaining financial stability.

However, due to current salary constraints, the official announcement might be delayed until the summer, when Barcelona are expected to have more flexibility in their wage structure.
Kounde has been one of the most important players under Flick this season, playing more minutes than any other member of the squad.
The Frenchman has already made 43 appearances, contributing three goals and eight assists.
His partnership with Lamine Yamal on the right flank has been particularly effective, showcasing his attacking and defensive growth in the full-back role.
With Barcelona already securing contract renewals for several key players, Kounde’s extension will further strengthen the team’s long-term stability.
While Barcelona are also looking to sign a new right-back, their confidence in him highlights his growing influence, and if all goes according to plan, he will remain a pillar of the Barcelona defence for years to come.
