Barcelona head to the Mestalla to face Valencia in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals this evening.
Less than two weeks after a 7-1 thrashing of Valencia in La Liga, Barca take on their struggling Spanish counterparts in a cup quarter-final. Barcelona are unbeaten since the turn of the new year and are targeting more silverware after Supercopa de España success last month.
A win tonight will see the Catalans join Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid in the last four, alongside the winners of this evening’s tie between Real Sociedad and Osasuna.
Valencia are enduring a tough season and sit 19th in La Liga. Los Che are battling to avoid a first relegation from Spain’s top flight in 39 years.
Dani Olmo could feature for Barcelona after a spell on the sidelines with a calf strain. The midfielder’s return would boost a Barcelona squad missing Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Marc Bernal and Andreas Christensen through injury. Gavi will be assessed ahead of the game after a clash of heads during Sunday’s win over Alaves.
Ferran Torres will be hoping for a rare start against the club where he came through the ranks. The 24-year-old has seven goals from just nine starts across all competitions this season.
Barcelona predicted XI: Pena; Kounde, Cubarsi, Araujo, Balde; Pedri, De Jong, Fermin; Yamal, Raphinha, Lewandowski.
Valencia host Barcelona in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on Thursday 6th February 2025. Kick-off at The Mestalla is 20:30 GMT.
The fixture will not be broadcast live on UK television.
