Ferran Torres has been one of the more criticised Barcelona players over the past year, primarily because of his inconsistency in the attack. His finishing, after all, has not always been at the level he is capable of.
Over the past two months, however, the player has turned his situation around and is gaining confidence under Hansi Flick.
The Spanish international has become a regular off the bench and is a player who creates a consistent threat in the final third.
As relayed in a recent update by MARCA, Torres has emerged as Barcelona’s ‘luxury’ substitute and Flick sees the player to have immense quality as a resource off the bench.
The Spaniard, however, is not satisfied with the fringe role and is pushing to fight for a place as a regular starter in the German tactician’s plans.

The 24-year-old’s resurgence began early in December when he scored in Barcelona’s win over Mallorca and he followed it up with a goal in the team’s next game against Real Betis.
He then played a pivotal role in the Catalans’ win over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League, scoring a brace after coming off the bench in the 71st minute.
Torres got off to the perfect start to 2025 with a goal coming off the bench against Real Betis and provided a monumental assist for Raphinha’s last-gasp winner against Benfica earlier this week.
With five goal contributions in La Liga and three in the UEFA Champions League, Torres has been impressive for Barcelona without a doubt.
However, he has only started once in the UCL and six times in La Liga and he is looking to improve those numbers.
Barcelona take on his boyhood club Valencia twice in the next two weeks and the Spanish winger will look to provide maximum impact in what will be two special games for him.
With the forward department lacking quality depth, Torres could well start more often for Barcelona as a replacement for any of the three forwards.
