New part of the Battle to Save Celtic on The excellent Celtic Exchange podcast. This is part 10 of what has been an informative and important series detailing perhaps the most important time in the entire history of Celtic Football Club off the park…

Here’s what Lubo’s left peg, a well known member on our Celtic Noise forum has to say about what Andrew Smith, back then the editor of The Celtic View, had to say about the Battle to Save Celtic from his perspective. Video is included at the end and as always it’s a fascinating listen. If you haven’t been following the series so far it’s well worth checking out all the episodes which are available via Celtic Exchange and also on You Tube.

Here’s Lubo’s remarks on Celtic Noise on Andrew Smith’s appearance on The Celtic Exchange’s Battle to Save Celtic series.

Not sure how to take this one. My understanding of the Celtic View during the reign of the old board is that it was their propaganda machine. Is that right?

Did the view contain pieces attacking the fan groups at the time? I think the man being interviewed sort of skirted around the fan groups protesting about the board.

Also, he makes quite an incredible claim that it wasn’t the fan groups that forced change..but the poor results and lack of trophies. I believe they would have carried on until Celtic no longer existed.

Yet again though, another fascinating listen.

30 years ago Fergus McCann swept into Celtic Park and secured the clubs very existence with an eleventh hour investment that would alter the course of Celtic’s history for ever. In this special series by The Celtic Exchange we’ve been speaking to some of the key players from that time as we bring you the inside stories of what unfolded during that incredible era in Celtic’s history.

We’re covering the story from all angles and as someone with a front row seat between 1989 – 1997 in his role at The Celtic View, Andrew Smith experienced all sides of ‘The Battle’. Firstly under “The Old Board” before retaining his place as part of the Fergus McCann regime until his own exit from the club…
